065 | What About Good Works?

Welcome to episode 65 of The Grace Cafe Podcast. Let’s talk about good works. It’s a topic that’s surrounded by a lot of misunderstanding and confusion. When Jesus was asked what needed to be done in order to do the works of God he replied, “This is the work of God, that you believe on the one he has sent.” All these years later, we’re still asking that same question as though good works were a list of things we need to perform in order for God to like us more.

But what if good works aren’t the result of rigid spiritual discipline but simply the product of the fruit of the Spirit as he expresses Christ in and through us while we simply live our lives apart from feelings of shame or guilt for feeling like we’re not doing enough or doing it wrong? Let’s talk about it….

Shout out to Chris Stapleton for letting us use a soundbite from the Relevant Church Podcast in Chattanooga, TN. Bear down my friend… or not!

058 | Chattanooga Chat

Welcome to episode 58 of The Grace Cafe Podcast! I (Mike) managed to finish editing this episode which is a conversation with two of our friends who live in Chattanooga Tennessee, USA. We hadn’t enjoyed a face-to-face conversation with Chris Stapleton (not the country musician) and Josh Scott (he’s not a country musician either) in about a year, so we got them on the line and recorded it. Yes, they knew we were recording it. Our conversation went all over the place so I’m just calling this episode Chattanooga Chat. Because self-control seemed to go out the window, we’re rating this episode E, as in not for everyone.

Grab your favorite beverage, pull up your favorite chair, and be encouraged!
